After you complete step 2, insert the NT
4.0 CD into your computer. The setup will
require that it is pointing to the I386
directory. Click "Continue."

If there is no modem installed, you will
be prompted to add a modem device to your
machine.

You
will be asked if you want the RAS installer
to invoke the "modem installer"
to install a modem and, depending on your
response, you will be presented with various
modem installation options as described
below.
Selecting
"Yes" will invoke the "Install
New Modem" installer. See below.

Note:
If you invoke the modem installer, your
modem must be attached and turned on!
Selecting
"No" will allow you to manually
install your modem through the "Add
RAS Device" window. See below.

-
Installing a modem using modem installer
If
your modem is plug and play, RAS should properly
detect the modem. At the "Install New
Modem," window click "next."

The
"Install New Modem" window will
display your modem in the COM port field.
If this is not your modem, or if it does not
detect a modem, click on the Change button
and select the correct modem. Click "next,"
if this is your modem or when you have selected
the correct modem.

Click
on finish. You have completed the installation
of your modem (Congratulations!!!)

Installing a modem manually

or do not currently have a modem attached,
the "Add RAS Device" window will
appear.
Click
on the "Install Modem" button.

select it from a list."
The
"Install New modem" window will
appear. Select the correct manufacturer
and model of the modem you have connected
or are going to connect. Then click on the
"Next" button.
The
"Install New Modem" window will
appear. The correct modem should already
be selected. Highlight the correct COM port
that the device is attached to or will be
attached to and click on the "next"
button.
The "Install New Modem" will convert
to "Your modem has been set up successfully."
Click on the "Finish" button to
complete your installation.
You
are now ready to continue installing your
NT 4.0 RAS.
If
your modem is correctly installed, the "Add
RAS Device" window will appear. The correct
COM port and type of modem you installed will
be selected (If not, go back to step 5.) Click
